Guided Study Groups (GSG) are offered each week and are free. You do not have to sign-up in advance. You are encouraged to participate in the sessions as often as you can. The schedule is subject to change especially closer to exams. Please refer back to the Penn State Learning webpage (pennstatelearning.psu.edu), listen to in-class announcements, and check your Canvas course correspondence.
GSG leaders are undergraduate students who have previously taken and met success in the course. The leaders are trained to host/facilitate two or three free study sessions each week throughout the semester and will help you master the course content through problem-solving, collaborative learning and study skills strategies. Also, the GSG leaders attend your course lectures to remain current with the material! So, they can experience the class, just as you do. Although your GSG leader may not attend your specific lecture time you are welcome to attend the sessions and you can attend as often as you’d like. Bring your questions and be prepared to work in a group environment.
IMPORTANT NOTE: GSG leaders are not TAs. For additional assistance you are encouraged to attend your TA’s and faculty office hours and visit department resource rooms (e.g., Chemistry & Physics Resource Rooms). Sessions for the following courses are suspended until further notice: PHIL 12, PHYS 212 & 251, and STAT 250. Sessions are in-person or via zoom. Use your PSU single sign-on for zoom access.
GSG and Exam review recordings can be accessed at the Kaltura MediaSpace.
