Drop-In Tutoring

Drop-In Tutoring

Drop-In tutoring is one of the most popular ways to see a Penn State Writing Tutor and have a conversation about your writing assignments. If you are hesitant to select a particular time or appointment slot or prefer the idea of stopping by when there's a break in your schedule then drop-in tutoring might just be the thing for you!

How does it work?

Drop-in tutoring is pretty simple. All our daytime writing tutoring currently happens in 220 Boucke. To get tutoring through drop-in hours, all you need to do is swing by 220 and sign in. Our receptionists will ask you for your ID and your name, and you'll be asked to write your name and course on a sign-in board. Shortly thereafter, a writing tutor on duty will assist you. It's as easy as that!

Because most writing tutoring sessions are thirty minutes in length and we only have a limited number of tutors on duty at any one time, it's possible that during drop-in hours you'll experience a short wait before a tutor becomes available to help. We are busiest during peak semester times like finals and midterms, so if you're short on space in your schedule and want to guarantee that you'll be seen at a particular time we do recommend scheduling an appointment.

During the summer, we hold drop-in hours M-R from 12N-5PM in 220 Boucke.

During the fall and spring, we hold drop-in hours M-R, 12N-10PM and Sun., 6-10PM in 220 Boucke. Writing tutors, tech. tutors and peer library research consultants are also hold drop-in hours at The Search Bar in Pattee's Sidewater Commons Sun.-R, 10AM-10PM and Fridays until 6PM.
