Lisa Melanson

Scholar in Residence for Mathematics

Lisa Melanson, Associate Teaching Professor and Assistant Director for Undergraduate Education in the Department of Mathematics, is Penn State Learning’s Scholar in Residence for Mathematics. As Scholar in Residence for Mathematics, Lisa serves as the liaison between Penn State Learning math education specialists/peer tutors and mathematics course instructors/department administrators making sure that tutoring is well-supported and well-aligned with current course curricula and teaching methods. She confirms that tutor roles complement those of course learning assistants. She identifies areas where students need assistance and develops math support strategies and innovations. Finally, Lisa champions instructor-supported resources available at no charge to all undergraduates enrolled in math courses at University Park.
