Video Transcript: I have to rewrite this paper for my stupid professor. It's uh, it's supposed to be about a holiday, that, a good holiday that we had. It's not that I never had a good holiday, it's just - it's personal stuff. It's just too personal.
Choice A. You stop mirroring the student’s posture and lean forward to look at the papers he has pulled out. “Yeah . . . kind of like it’s not his business right? I’ve had my share of assignments I didn’t want to complete. But somehow I made myself get through them, no matter what I was feeling about them. You smile and pause and add, “So, what’s your name?”
Choice B. So why didn’t your instructor like what you wrote? Did he give you any feedback?
Choice C. You take the paper and begin reading. The student is still talking, but you get involved in what you are reading and don’t really hear what he is saying. You tell the student, “Well here’s the problem. You don’t have a topic sentence for your paragraphs, and you’re not making complete sentences.” You quickly mark the paper so the student can fix his errors and give the papers back to the student.
