Choice A. You take the paper and begin reading. The student is still talking, but you get involved in what you are reading and don’t really hear what he is saying. You tell the student, “Well here’s the problem. You don’t have a topic sentence for your paragraphs, and you’re not making complete sentences.” You quickly mark the paper so the student can fix his errors and give the papers back to the student.
Choice B. You loosen your posture a bit, relax you arms a little, and respond, “I don’t know. Is there someplace else you need to be? Hey, what’s your name anyway?”
Choice C. This student really has an attitude problem! You respond, “Maybe you should come back when you aren’t so tired and you have more time.
