As the Coordinator for the Guided Study Groups program, Shannon is responsible for supervising the Guided Study Group Leaders. She works with the leaders to provide training and development for the peer-led groups that offer supplemental instruction for math, science, and other foundational courses through study groups and exam reviews. Shannon works with the Scholar-in-Residence for Learning Communities and Penn State Learning team to help students achieve greater success in their courses.
Prior to joining Penn State Learning, Shannon obtained her B.A. in Linguistics from Purdue University in 2004 and M.A. in Linguistics from Trinity Western University in 2006. She has worked with adult learners in many capacities over the years and completed her Ph.D. in Adult Education from Penn State University in 2020.
Penn State Learning provides opportunities for Shannon's interests in peer-led instruction, educational equity, and student-centered pedagogy. She sees the Guided Study Groups as an environment to cultivate student communities and develop lifelong learners and leaders.
