Emily joined the Penn State Learning staff in August 2017. She holds an M.A. in Communication Arts and Sciences from Penn State University and a B.A. in Communication Studies from Vanderbilt University. While at Vanderbilt, she also earned minors in mathematics and corporate strategy.

Emily loves helping students become successful learners and leaders. She has previously served in several academic support and teaching capacities. While at Vanderbilt, Emily served as a TA for Fundamentals of Calculus where she led recitation sections, office hours, and exam review sessions. At Penn State, she taught 11 semesters of Effective Speech, including three sections of the Message Analysis emphasis. She also spent a year as the assistant director of the Effective Speech course. In this role, she and the course director led a weekly pedagogy seminar for new course instructors. Emily also planned the CAS department's two campus-wide public speaking contests for the 2016-2017 year.

As Program Coordinator for Guided Study Groups, Emily manages the operations of our 70+ weekly GSG sessions, as well as exam reviews for all of our courses. She serves as a resource and point of contact for our 23 GSG leaders, and she communicates with faculty and staff across campus about our program.
