Dave Ryan, BS, CFT is a student services associate (program / data manager) with Penn State Learning. He is responsible for the “Invite a Student Tutor to Your Class Program” whereby instructors invite a peer tutor to address their class about services provided by Penn State Learning. He co-edits the unit’s web page and assures the website is accessible to those people with visual impairments. Dave also serves as Penn State Learning’s liaison to those Penn State units wishing to use the resources within 7-Sparks Building. Those resources include a teleconference-capable room, a teamwork area with computer, three Skype-capable Mac computers, and fifty-seven open-use computers. He assists staff members with creating data summaries and formal reports to and for various Penn State offices. Dave has completed the coursework  requirements and is now conducting the analysis of his research data toward his M.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Science. Dave earned a B.S in Forest Science with emphasis in Wildlife Management from Penn State (1976) and a Certificate in Forest Technology (CFT) from State University of New York College of Environmental Science & Forestry (1970). He is in his thirty-sixth year as a Penn State employee and has worked/participated in academic field research projects for the departments of Forestry and Intercollege Research Programs.  Dave directed a public education program for the Nuclear Engineering and the later Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering departments for ten years.  More recently Dave has worked with multiple offices within Undergraduate Education providing data analysis and database creation and support. Dave enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1970 and served in Germany and  was honorably discharged from the U.S Army Security Agency in 1972. Dave’s hobby is Ornithology. He is happiest when returning cold, wet, and muddy after a day of studying birds in the field.
